Harry!
One of my favorite places to visit, much less buy anything, in SL is Grim Bros. I have tons of dresses, shoes, and toys from there, but my absolute favorite thing ever is my Harry:
If you’ve been to Grim, you’ve no doubt seen Harry’s friends and family, in various forms, keeping watch there, as well. I have no idea what the Grim people call their eyeballs (besides the official, “cutea’s blinking eyeball tracker”), but I dubbed mine Harry almost as soon as he came to live with me about 11 months ago now. He has lived indoors and out and has been my one constant companion, moving to watch where I, or any of my visitors, go at all times.
While my original Harry is ever with me, at Halloween, I had to have the batty version to grace my dead land ….
This one’s tons of fun because he flies and flips and turns while he’s watching you.
When this Christmas season came, my daughter insisted that we either put a Santa hat on Harry, or find him a Christmas friend. A quick wander over to Grim found me adopting Santa Harry ….
To my fantastic delight (but not great surprise, in the end), I found other great eyes when I visited the pretrovsky flux. Hosted at the Spencer Museum of Art in SL, it’s a creation of blotto Epsilon + Cutea Benelli. Blotto is the creator of my Harry, as I understand it, and Cutea *is* Grim Bros. First, you must go see this amazing thing. I could sit for hours and watch it. It self-creates and self-destructs as you sit and watch. Grab an nc when you arrive. Prior to, you can read about it (and see a great pic of the creators) here: http://nwn.blogs.com/nwn/2010/11/sl-petrovsky-flux.html. Second, well … Harry!
Please click on that last pic and blow it up. In the background, you can see a piece of the structure flying around. Very cool.
The last thing I’ll say about Harry is that he’s an eyeball who cares. Proceeds from the sale of Harry and his friends (and a couple of other items) benefit Nothing But Nets, an organization which helps fight malaria in Africa. So there really is no reason at all for you to not own your own Harry … or 3.
